How much does a bespoke engagement ring cost?
Our bespoke engagement rings typically begin from around £5,000, with many clients choosing to invest between £5,000 and £15,000, depending on the diamonds and jewels, design, and craftsmanship involved.
Each piece is individually created, and we’ll guide you through the options to achieve something truly exceptional, always with complete clarity on pricing before we begin.
How does the bespoke design process work?
It begins with a relaxed conversation, either in our Yorkshire boutique or on a call to begin, where we explore your ideas, preferences, and any inspiration you may have.
From there, we develop designs, source exceptional diamonds or jewels such as; fine sapphires or rubies, and refine every detail with you before your ring is handcrafted. The process is personal, enjoyable, and entirely tailored to you.
Can the ring be a surprise, or do we design it together?
Both options are possible. Some clients plan the proposal alone, others prefer to involve their partner. We will adapt the process to suit you.
Are your engagement rings handmade in England?
Yes, the majority of our engagement rings are handcrafted here in England using traditional goldsmithing techniques.
This approach allows us to create pieces of exceptional quality, with a level of detail and character that simply cannot be replicated through mass production.
Do you only work with diamonds?
No – while natural diamonds are a classic choice, we also work with sapphires, rubies, emeralds and various other gemstones.
What if I don’t know the ring size?
This is very common, and we can guide you on subtle ways to estimate size.
If needed, we can also resize the ring after the proposal to ensure a perfect fit.
What are the 4Cs of diamonds?
Cut, Colour, Clarity and Carat – the four key factors that define a diamond’s beauty and value. Neil will explain how these apply to your chosen stone.
Are your natural diamonds certified and ethically sourced?
Yes, all of our diamonds are responsibly sourced and come with certification from respected laboratories such as GIA
This ensures both quality and full transparency.
Do you offer consultations outside Yorkshire?
Yes. While many clients visit us at our Boston Spa boutique in Yorkshire, Neil also works with clients across the UK and internationally. Consultations can be held online, or by special arrangement in a location convenient to you.
Do you offer lab-grown diamonds?
At N J Geddes Fine Jewellery, we specialise in natural diamonds, carefully selected for their rarity, beauty, and enduring value.
While lab-grown diamonds have become more widely available in recent years, our focus remains on creating heirloom-quality pieces using natural stones that have formed over millions of years and hold long-term significance.
For many of our clients, this sense of permanence and authenticity is an important part of what an engagement ring represents. We believe a piece created to mark such a meaningful moment should carry that same lasting quality.
How long does it take to make a bespoke engagement ring?
Typically, the process takes around 5–6 weeks from design approval to completion.
If you have a specific date in mind, we’ll always do our best to accommodate it.
What happens after I collect the ring?
Our service continues beyond the proposal. We provide ongoing aftercare and support to ensure your ring is treasured for years to come.
When should I buy an engagement ring?
It depends on your plans. Ready-to-wear pieces are available immediately, while bespoke designs may take several weeks. Starting early ensures you have the perfect ring in time.
How do I choose the right engagement ring?
We guide you through the process in a clear and uncomplicated way, focusing on what truly matters, beauty, balance, craftsmanship and value.
Rather than overwhelming you with technical detail, we’ll present a curated selection of diamonds and explain the differences, helping you choose with confidence.
